Zscaler is all set to buy Cloudneeti, a cloud security posture management start-up, along with plans to prevent and rectify application misconfigurations in the cloud.

Based out of San Jose, California, Zscaler’s proposal to acquire  Cloudneeti, a Redmond, Washington-based company  will help extend Zscaler data protection for SaaS (Software-as-a-service) applications into public cloud works, as SaaS and PaaS (Platform-as-a-service) misconfigurations are the primary reason for data breaches and compliance violations in cloud applications

Terms associated with the deal are not disclosed; however, the deal is expected to be closed by the end of April 2020, and Zscaler did not give a prompt response to any additional information on the same.  Zscaler Chairman and CEO Jay Chaudhry stated, “Whether caused by SaaS applications being configured incorrectly or a developer accidentally misconfiguring a new public cloud application, these preventable data protection lapses are behind some of the biggest breaches in history.”

Exploring Cloudneeti

Established in 2017, Cloudneeti is an enterprise with 40 employees that operates with managed service providers and risk advisors and provides cloud security assessments, DevSecOps, along with security and compliance assurance in the cloud.

CEO Gururaj Pandurangi and Pravin Kulkarni founded Cloudneeti with a vision to put an end to compliance violations and breaches that are a result of completely preventable misconfigurations as applications move to the cloud.

CEO Mr. Pandurangi added, “Cloudneeti was built in the cloud for the cloud, which is why Zscaler is such an exciting technological and cultural fit for the team.”

Cloudneeti offers clients solutions with data protection and exposure prevention across locations, application types, and users to make certain reliable and comprehensive data loss prevention that are in sync with regulations like the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

According to Zscaler, the Cloudneeti platform provides visibility and violation mitigation across SaaS applications by tech giants, like Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), which helps ensure compliance with government laws and industry regulations.

In the past 20 months, Cloudneeti is Zscaler’s third acquisition. Back in August 2018, the company acquired the development team and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning technology of TrustPath. Nine months later, the company purchased Appsulate at USD 13 million.
