Microsoft and Citrix have had a long-term partnership of approximately 20 years. The tech giant Microsoft, a week before going for its worldwide partner conference, announced a new stream on its ongoing Citrix relationship on July 14, 2020.

Previous to the recent update, Citrix promised to make Microsoft’s Azure a preferred cloud platform. Add to the previous commitment, the two companies again agreed on rendering joint tools and services for speeding the transition of on-premises Citrix customers to Azure. And the companies said they would create a “connected roadmap” with joint offerings that consist of Citrix SD-WAN, Citrix Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Azure.

Elaboratively, the terms of the deal state that Microsoft will select Citrix Workspace as a preferred digital workspace solution, and Citrix will designate Microsoft Azure as its cloud platform. Together, they try to combine individual customer base and help them to work anywhere across devices.

The medium of sales of these joint offerings is direct sales forces via the Azure Marketplace and channel partners.

“As organizations everywhere adapt to new ways of work, they will need to reimagine how and where work gets done,” said Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft. “Together with Citrix, we will apply the power of Azure to this challenge, helping our customers seamlessly and securely connect their employees to their applications, so they can be more agile and productive wherever they are,” he added.

The partnership renewal between the companies is a reinstatement of the fact that both companies, Citrix and Microsoft, will maintain their long-term policies of supporting choice for customers who request alternatives to meet their business requirements.
