Logitech G and Tencent Games announced a collaboration to develop a cloud gaming handheld for the market that combines Logitech G’s hardware knowledge with Tencent Games’ software services expertise. Both businesses have collaborated with the Xbox Cloud Gaming, and NVIDIA GeForce NOW teams to provide numerous cloud gaming services on the new device, enabling gamers to play AAA games while not on their console or PC.

The new hardware will be designed for cloud gaming services, offering a dedicated device with controls instead of the typical cases attached to phones.

In order to fulfil their shared vision of the future of gaming (from the cloud), Logitech G and Tencent Games are working together seamlessly to ensure that they deliver on their promise of gaming from the cloud. Cloud gaming makes use of data center servers to stream video games to users. It is not mandatory to download and install games on PCs or consoles. Instead, players can engage with games locally on their devices while they are being rendered and played on remote servers.

Logitech and Tencent are just teasing the device, and there’s no mention of a release date, pricing, or even what the cloud gaming handheld looks like. Logitech will lean on its expertise in building PC and console gaming accessories, while Tencent looks to be more of an operations partner.

Users can sign up on a dedicated website to get constant updates about the new cloud gaming handheld. However, Logitech has promised a launch by the end of this year, which means they will have more information in the next few months.

This announcement comes months after the release of Valve’s Steam Deck handheld, which has helped transform PC gaming on the go. It supports Xbox Cloud Gaming, Stadia, and such cloud gaming services. But people might need an affordable alternative that runs cloud games without being dependent on their phones. And it looks like Logitech is aiming for that!
