  • The Cloud Data Integration for PowerCenter is a single, low-touch update that facilitates the migration of PowerCenter users to the cloud with up to six time’s greater speed.
  • Informatica is expanding its current AI copilot functionalities to encompass auto-generated classifications without any manual inputs, inferred data lineage, analysis of multicolumn completeness, and automatic mapping.

At the Informatica World conference in Las Vegas, Informatica Corp. made several announcements to reinforce its Intelligent Data Management Cloud.

The enhancements comprise expanded artificial intelligence functionalities, vertical market characteristics, and an extended range of master data management products. The company has recently made announcements regarding the completion of its transition to an all-cloud business model. This campaign has been underway for the past seven years.

Amit Walia, Chief Executive of Informatica said, “We built IDMC from scratch and have gone from zero dollars in subscriptions to more than half a billion dollars.” He stated, “We’re a very sticky business,” and added that the renewal rates are significantly above 90%.

Cloud Enticements

Informatica has initiated a cloud modernization program to assist its clients in migrating from the on-premises PowerCenter to IDMC, in line with the transition. The Cloud Data Integration for PowerCenter is a single, low-touch update that facilitates the migration of PowerCenter users to the cloud with up to six time’s greater speed. This is achieved while retaining all their current artifacts and achieving cost savings of up to 20 times.

Informatica is incorporating generative artificial intelligence into its products, following the trend of other companies. The organization is upgrading its Claire intelligent metadata automation engine by incorporating Generative Pre-trained Transformer technology, similar to the one utilized in the widely used ChatGPT question-answering application.

Currently, Claire processes 54 trillion transactions per month and stores 23 petabytes of metadata. According to the company, the integration of GPT can significantly simplify and accelerate enterprise data management. The Claire GPT system utilizes natural language questions to replace technical queries, expanding the range of potential users and self-service applications. According to the company’s statement, the integration of GPT can potentially lead to a significant reduction of up to 80% in the time required for data management tasks. The integration of Claire GPT into IDMC is scheduled for the latter half of the year.

Informatica is expanding its current AI copilot functionalities to encompass auto-generated classifications without any manual inputs, inferred data lineage, analysis of multicolumn completeness, and automatic mapping. Walia said, “Once customers turn on [Claire GPT] we can scout their entire enterprise and bring all the metadata into one place so you can start making decisions against it.”

ESG Support

The company is introducing a range of capabilities that cater to the environmental, social, and governance principles that many organizations adopt as part of their sustainability initiatives. This move is aimed at attracting more customers in vertical industries. The IDMC for ESG Sustainability encompasses the complete data lifecycle, which involves the processes of data discovery, ingestion, integration, data, and application quality enhancement, consolidated data view, governance, privacy, and data sharing and democratization.

Walia added, “We’ve not focused a lot of verticalization before because we did a lot of that work through system integrators. But in the current world, customers want a lot of stuff out of the box. The user interface for data governance may be the same across industries, but how you surface it is different for pharmaceuticals and retailers?”

According to the company, IDMC for ESG Sustainability facilitates companies in obtaining and integrating data to comply with regulations, attain all-inclusive perspectives of ESG data, and evaluate the effectiveness of ESG initiatives.

Cloud Partnerships

Informatica is expanding its partnerships with the top three cloud hyper scalers to align with its cloud-first strategy. The Cloud Data Integration-Free data preparation suite, a no-code solution, has been made available for Amazon Web Services Inc.’s Redshift. Per the company’s announcement, this can be accessed directly within the Redshift console. At no cost, users have the ability to process a maximum of 20 million rows and allocate up to 10 processing hours per month for data pipelines and data integration.

The organization intends to provide IDMC and Cloud Data Governance and Catalog as built-in services on Microsoft Corp.’s Azure cloud. This will simplify the process for Azure clients to obtain, allocate, initiate, set up, and handle IDMC through the Azure portal.

Informatica’s Intelligent Master Data Management SaaS application will be natively accessible on Google Cloud, with IMDC becoming a native service on Google Cloud in Europe.
