Cloudflare, Inc., a content delivery network provider, has introduced two significant enhancements, Digital Experience Monitoring and Fleet Status, to assist clients in understanding end-user connectivity and performance.

Cloudflare One’s secure access service edge includes Digital Experience Monitoring (DEX). It tracks employee internet performance, dependability, and speed.

In the era of remote work, DEX endeavors to address the difficulty of maintaining consistent performance and dependability across disparate, globally distributed teams. Cloudflare contends that traditional network performance monitoring tools frequently fail to provide actionable, real-time insights into the digital experiences of each team member, especially when team members connect to different applications from different locations.

Cloudflare asserts that guaranteeing the consistent performance of these resources has become a difficult task as organizations increasingly rely on cloud-based solutions for their daily operations. DEX intends to resolve this issue by utilizing “Synthetic Application Monitoring,” a feature that, in Cloudflare’s words, “shines a light through this maze.”

The Synthetic Application Monitoring feature enables HTTP GET tests to be scheduled to monitor the performance of critical applications. The evaluations are executed from multiple points within Cloudflare’s network to represent user experiences accurately.

With DEX, administrators can monitor response time averages from various locations, genuinely evaluating an application’s performance as perceived by their distributed workforce. DEX includes a time series format that readily identifies trends, peak periods, and prospective issues, thereby transforming unprocessed data into intelligence that can be utilized for network optimization. Users can also use DEX to visualize HTTP status codes over time in order to detect and resolve issues that may negatively impact the user experience.

The Fleet Status monitoring tool provides network administrators with real-time visibility into the status of all client devices. The tool enables a comprehensive understanding of global and per-device connection patterns, modes, and locations.

Fleet Status implements Cloudflare’s WARP client, a solution designed to defend corporate devices by routing their traffic securely through Cloudflare’s global network for advanced web filtering and zero-trust policy enforcement.

The new service is said to go beyond simple data representation by providing a clear, real-time snapshot of network deployment, thereby highlighting anomalies rapidly and effectively. Utilizing data visualizations, detailed per-device views, and time-series charts, Fleet Status transforms raw data into insights that can be acted upon.

All Cloudflare One clients can now access DEX and Fleet Status in open beta testing.
